The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute has released an updated version of its Rebar Reference mobile app, a digital reference tool for reinforced concrete construction professionals working in the field or shop.
The app provides specifications and properties for ASTM standard reinforcing steel, including bar sizes, diameters, areas and weights. It also includes minimum yield and tensile requirements, along with inspection guidance commonly used during construction and fabrication.
Users can access standard hook details for 90-, 135- and 180-degree bends, as well as stirrup and tie hook configurations. The app also includes field inspection information and ASTM bar marking requirements, with illustrations showing standard inch-pound rebar markings across multiple grades.
A new Safety module is available at no cost and focuses on jobsite and shop safety practices. It includes general safety guidance and reference materials intended to help reduce workplace injuries. The app also links to additional online resources and continuing education content.
Optional premium modules are available through in-app purchase and include tools for rebar identification and development length calculations using ACI or AASHTO code bodies. Users who purchase a development length module also receive access to a desktop version of the same tools.
