Philippi-Hagenbuch Inc. will begin manufacturing all HiVol haul truck bodies with floors made from Hardox 500 Tuf steel, a high-strength, abrasion-resistant material designed for demanding hauling applications.
The company said the updated floor design can extend service life by up to 50% compared with previous materials, particularly in applications involving abrasive or corrosive materials such as aggregates, scrap, ore and refuse.
Haul truck floors typically see the highest wear due to heavy impacts during loading. The new steel is intended to improve resistance to abrasion, punctures and structural damage, while maintaining durability in both extreme heat and cold conditions.
The update applies across all custom-engineered bodies, reflecting a focus on longer equipment life and reduced maintenance in heavy-duty hauling operations.
