Volvo Penta 5- and 8-liter Tier 4 Final Engines

The 5-liter, inline four-cylinder D5 industrial engine and 8-liter, inline six-cylinder D8 open power unit (PowerPac) benefit from a redesigned platform and advanced fuel injection and aftertreatment systems.

• D5 offers a range of 143 to 218 hp, uses proven selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and features a common rail fuel system
• D8 comes in the 218- to 320-hp range and uses SCR technology with light exhaust gas recirculation
• Increased displacement offers improved engine block stiffness and higher torque at low speed with reduced fuel consumption
• Share the same base engine design as the D11, D13 and D16, as well as a common electronics platform and design footprint
