Hafsa Burt

Hafsa Burt, a seasoned architect who leads hb+a Architects, a studio she founded in 2006.

Her diverse portfolio spans from projects at the San Francisco Airport to multifamily and medical office buildings. As an environmental advocate, Burt champions low-carbon and regenerative building designs, focusing on indoor air quality and eliminating toxins. She's a recognized expert in "Healthy Building Practices," actively contributing to state-level legislation on the built environment and climate action. Burt, a member of the AIA California Climate Action Committee, is involved in policy advocacy for decarbonizing construction and reducing Embodied Carbon.

Her accolades include ENR’s 20 Under 40, AIA Young Architects' Honor Award, design awards from Fast Company and the German Design Council, a LEED Fellow with USGBC and GBCI, and a Leadership award from the Sustainabilities Forum. Burt's leadership extends to her development arm, Box Lab, dedicated to zero energy/low carbon building projects.
