More than 15,600 commercial vehicle industry professionals gathered in Indianapolis for Work Truck Week 2026 to evaluate new equipment, propulsion systems, and digital solutions. The event, held March 10-13, 2026, at the Indiana Convention Center, featured 547 exhibiting companies and served as a platform for several significant product launches in the medium-duty and vocational segments.

"Work Truck Week 2026 again demonstrated that for one week every year, Indianapolis becomes the epicenter of the rapidly evolving commercial vehicle industry," said Steve Carey, NTEA president and CEO.

Commercial Vehicle and Technology Launches

Major OEMs utilized the event to introduce new hardware and software solutions aimed at fleet efficiency and vocational applications:

  • Ram Professional — The manufacturer announced its return to the midsize commercial van segment with the unveiling of the 2027 ProMaster City.
  • Harbinger — The company introduced its HC Series Cab, a medium-duty, low-cab-forward truck. The new model is designed to be available in both all-electric and hybrid plug-in configurations.
  • Ford Pro — The division debuted Ford Pro AI, an intelligent fleet assistant designed to optimize operations. Additionally, Ford announced new 2027 Super Duty packages tailored for construction, manufacturing, and energy sectors.

Beyond vehicle platforms, exhibitors showcased advancements in truck and trailer lighting, solar charging, no-idle systems and specialized cargo management solutions.

Strategic Shift to Future Truck Summit

A significant organizational change was announced regarding the event’s educational programming. Emily Korns, NTEA board member and president of J&J Truck Bodies and Trailers, announced that the Green Truck Summit will be rebranded as the Future Truck Summit starting in 2027.

The NTEA is collaborating with the NAFA Fleet Management Association to develop an expanded curriculum for the summit. The program will focus on the convergence of alternative fuels, software, hardware, and on-vehicle technology.

"The commercial vehicle industry is at a pivotal moment," Korns said. "Vehicle technology is advancing quickly. Customer expectations are rising. Regulatory and market pressures are accelerating change."

Testing and Education

The event’s Ride & Drive program featured 15 companies providing hands-on access to the latest propulsion systems. Attendees tested a variety of all-electric vans, trucks, and chassis, as well as internal combustion vehicles equipped with technologies designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve fuel utilization.

The educational component of the week included sessions on vehicle engineering, compliance, government regulations, and powertrain innovations. Twelve commercial vehicle OEMs also provided exclusive chassis updates, detailing upcoming vehicle changes and upfitting solutions for vocational applications.

Work Truck Week is scheduled to return to the Indiana Convention Center March 9-12, 2027.
