VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Coastal Training Technologies has released Roadway Worker Safety: In the Zone, its latest program on road construction safety.
The program is a timely response to an increasingly urgent safety issue. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health reports that each year, more than 100 workers are killed and over 20,000 are injured in the highway and street construction industry. The likelihood of these accidents can only increase as road work expands under a $234-billion-multi-year transportation law.
Roadway Worker Safety: In the Zone identifies crucial roadwork hazards, from falls, excavation and trenching to electrocution, equipment mishaps and runovers. The program outlines specific safety preventive measures for each, including PPE, Traffic Control Pattern Awareness, and night-work operations. It also offers practical tips on flagging, MSDS use and general safety procedures.
